It's October and now is the time for us to be very much aware of one of the more dangerous diseases we see today. It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is very serious and needs to be taken seriously. Breast Cancer Awareness is also called Pink October which started about 1997. It started out consisting of health screenings for a number days, supplying low cost mammograms, charities and having races. Today many companies have a their own campaigns to help stop the rise in breast cancer and to increase the awareness of breast cancer. It is aimed at helping find treatments for riding of the cancer.
Breast Cancer is a cancer that forms in cells of the breast. There are many signs that may help you realize whether or not you might be at risk or might have cancer. Some of the signs we know are as follows:
A.Pain or tenderness in breast
B.Lump in the breast or underarm pit prolonged after menstruation.
C.Armpit swelling
D.Changes in the nipple such as itching, dimpling, retraction or even burning sensations.
There are many more but these were just a few to mention.
If any of us find out that we have breast cancer there are many treatments that the doctors may offer you. Each treatment is based on what type of breast cancer you have along with how bad it may be. So please understand that when I say you need to always check your body, believe me because today you could be alright and then next month you could be in some big trouble. With breast cancer we have seen many different types. A few that I know of but may not be all are the following:
A. Invasive
B. Paget's Disease
C. Recurrence
D. In Young Women
E. In Pregnant Women
F. Inflammatory
G. HER2
H. In Males (Yes men, it's not often, but you do get breast cancer as well).
Like I have said before each person breast cancer is different and may need different treatments. Some of the treatments I am aware of and that I want to share with you are the folowing:
A. Surgery
B. Radiation Therapy
C. Chemotherapy
D. Hormone Therapy
E. Target Therapy
Pink October is a campaign also run by a company called Glamulet. Glamulet makes Pink October it's priority to let everyone know the importance of Breast Cancer; making Awareness number 1. They run their campaign to help prevent Breast Cancer. They are a company that sells jewelry to help fund the Breast Cancer charities. For every charm they sell, 50% goes to a charity funded for Breast Cancer.
You can help the cause by visiting their website at http://www.glamulet.com/breast-cancer-october-2015. It gives you an overview of who they are and what they are about.
We need to stay on top of this very life threatening disease. If we keep showing how much we care and keep on educating each other on the seriousness of this disease, we will make a difference and hopefully prevent most, if not all, from getting Breast Cancer and treating it before it's too late. BE AWARE of BREAST CANCER because it could save your life.
